Katherine Burr,
President/CEO, received a B.A. in Languages from Colorado State
University (1970), an M.A. in Anthropology from the University of
New Mexico (1973), and was a Ph.D. candidate in the same program
where she specialized in nonlinear systems theory. She received an
M.B.A. from the University of New Mexico (1989), with an emphasis on
cross-cultural business development. From 1974 to 1975 Ms. Burr
supported a Merrill Lynch training project by writing and editing
textbooks designed for Account Executives. For the next thirteen
years Ms. Burr worked as an executive, writer and researcher in
financial services in information technology, the automotive
industry and healthcare. Ms. Burr, who was one of Hanseatic's first
clients and subsequently joined Hanseatic in 1989, is responsible
for strategic and executive management of the Hanseatic Business
Portfolio.
Ed Meihaus, Chief Investment Officer, attended the University
of Louisville earning his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering then his
M.B.A./Finance from Memphis State University (1975) in Tennessee.
His previous experience includes five years as Director of Capital
Evaluation for Tosco Corporation and five years in various corporate
finance positions at UNOCAL and Security Pacific Bank. In 1980, Mr.
Meihaus formed his own investment company, Gibbons-Meihaus, which
was acquired by Hanseatic in 1984. As the developer of Hanseatic's
proprietary trading models, Mr. Meihaus is responsible for the
refinement and implementation of the models. As Chief Investment
Officer of Hanseatic Management Services, Inc., Mr. Meihaus is
specifically responsible for the management of Hanseatic's equity
portfolios.
Brian Stangel, Vice President/Trading, received his B.A.
degree in philosophy from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee
(1993), studying logic and contemporary problem analysis. Mr.
Stangel joined the Hanseatic Group in 1993 and oversees all trading
for the futures, equities, and currency programs. He ensures all
front-office and back-office activities are carried out properly,
from initiation of trades through data entry, tracking, internal
reporting, and reconciliation. Mr. Stangel coordinates the
transition from the research and development phase to the
implementation and operational use of extant and developing
proprietary trading models.
Russ Sanderson, Technical Director/Trading, received a
Bachelors degree from the University of New Mexico (1998). He joined
Hanseatic in 1989 to provide computer programming and technical
support. He works with the portfolio managers in the development of
Hanseatic's proprietary trading models. As Technical Director, Mr.
Sanderson is in charge of supervising the network operation and the
hardware/software requirements of the company. As trader, Mr.
Sanderson participates with the trading desk in the execution of
orders for the company's customers.
Matt Santillanes, web site development and management,
corporate IT. A.S. degree with concentration on emerging web
technologies, multimedia, and networking (2001). Mr. Santillanes
joined Hanseatic in 2000 to provide web, network, and overall
technical support to ensure the company's hardware and software
requirements are met. In addition he is part of Hanseatic's trading
team and executes futures and equity trades for Hanseatic's customer
accounts, interacting directly with executing brokers and using
electronic trading systems. Mr. Santillanes also supports
Hanseatic's back office functions, using the back office software to
track and reconcile trade-related data and prepare reports.
Melanie Lattimer, Director of Business Operations. Graduated
from the University of Arizona (1990) earning her B.A. in Business
Administration with a concentration in Accounting. Responsible for
all day-to-day Accounting and Back Office functions, including
Financial reporting, data entry, trade account reconciliations and
Performance Accounting. She has assumed responsibility for ensuring
all financial records are systematized and presented in a clear and
orderly fashion. Her experience includes tax work, financial
accounting, audit and client relations.
